Project Summary
This project will establish a poll to track public opinion on various transportation topics, publish findings, and make data publicly available. Researchers at UC Davis and UC Berkeley will work collaboratively to establish polling methods, engage with policymakers and researchers to select poll topics, design poll questions, administer the polls, weight and analyze results, and report and disseminate findings. We will conduct at least 4 polls covering around 10 different transportation topics. The first poll will be conducted in January 2027. Poll results will be shared via an online dashboard hosted by UC ITS and survey data will be shared via a data repository for other researchers and the public to use. The poll will give decision-makers a credible, recurring source of information on how Californians perceive transportation policy and emerging issues in transportation. By tracking opinion trends, the poll will help policymakers identify policies with durable support, understand communication issues related to policy, and evaluate public response to legislative or infrastructure initiatives
