Project Summary

Historically, disadvantaged communities have been disproportionately affected by highway planning and freeway siting, particularly in California.

This project will tell the stories of communities impacted by highway planning in California through interactive, online storymaps. The research team will produce storymaps for communities in Pacoima, Fresno, Colton, and San Diego, similar in style to the the storymap produced for Pasadena (available https://www.its.ucla.edu/portfolio-items/freeways-redlining-racism-storymap/).
