Project Summary

This research project will examine how the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a shortage of truck drivers in the United States, and more specifically in California. In addition to exploring the causes of the shortage, it will examine the sharp slowdown in economic activity compared to previous economic recessions, and the impact of restrictions on freight movement between jurisdictions on the job market for truck drivers. The findings and policy recommendations will be recorded in a short video and a policy brief.
