Frequently Asked Questions

Can PIs who have in-progress UC ITS projects or outstanding UC ITS deliverables submit a proposal?

PIs who have outstanding deliverables for previously awarded UC ITS projects are not eligible unless all outstanding deliverables are submitted prior to the proposal deadline for this RFP. PIs with active projects funded from prior UC ITS RFP cycles are eligible to apply; however, all expected project deliverables must be completed before FY 2025-26 funds will be disbursed. PIs who fail to meet expected deliverable deadlines for prior awards risk losing their FY 2025-26 award. Applicants may request verification of their eligibility and/or any past due deliverables on prior projects through the online form.

Is there a limit on the number of proposals that a Principal Investigator (PI) may submit?

Researchers are limited to being listed as a PI on only one pre-proposal / proposal, regardless of the project type (i.e., applied research project, research synthesis, translational project).  Researchers are also limited to being listed as a co-PI on one additional applied research project full proposal.

For Topic 6.1. Electric Vehicle Charging Deployment and Grid Implications, are only battery electric vehicles considered relevant or are fuel cell electric vehicles (and their refueling infrastructure) also relevant?
Can funding for graduate student researchers be included on Translational Projects?
To what extent will proposals that build off of research funded in previous RFP cycles be considered in the current FY 2025-26 RFP cycle?
