Understanding the Where, Why, and How People Travel
Travel behavior—how, why, and how much people travel—reflects a complex interplay of factors. Understanding these patterns are key for transportation planning, infrastructure investment, and addressing inequities. Our research delves into these interconnected issues to deepen understanding and inform solutions. We use travel demand modeling to predict and manage transportation needs, study the integration of land use and transportation to explore how planning decisions shape mobility, and analyze how factors like density and urban design influence travel choices. Additionally, we develop tools for assessing vehicle miles traveled (VMT), providing actionable insights to support sustainable, efficient, and equitable transportation systems.
