DATE: November 20, 2024

TIME: 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM

EVENT OVERVIEW:

California has aggressive goals for transitioning medium- and heavy-duty trucks to zero-emission. In 2020, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) adopted the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) regulation, mandating that manufacturers steadily increase the sale of zero-emission trucks, vans, and other large vehicles. Building on this policy foundation, CARB adopted the Advanced Clean Fleets (ACT) regulation in 2023, designed to accelerate demand for these vehicles by setting clear purchase requirements for public and private fleet operators.

Join the UC Institute of Transportation Studies and the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment at UC Berkeley for a timely webinar on the latest research examining how truck fleets—especially small operators—along with manufacturers, utilities, and other stakeholders, are responding to these transformative regulations. Our expert panel will discuss the critical challenges and opportunities that will determine the success of these policies, including:

  • Will the necessary refueling infrastructure be deployed at the pace and locations required to meet California’s regulatory targets?
  • Will there be sufficient availability of zero-emission truck models, and will production capacity in key market segments align with fleet needs?
  • Are adequate incentives and funding mechanisms in place to support fleet purchases and infrastructure installations, ensuring the timely adoption of zero-emission trucks?
  • Will zero-emission vehicles meet the needs of truck fleets and operators? How are fleets currently responding to California’s regulations?
